Spring Fever

Oh my Spring Fever!!!  Today is the most gorgeous day, it’s 75 degrees with the perfect amount of sun.  I can’t believe spring is exactly one month away, I’m ready for it now!  Today I wore my “uniform”.  I’m obsessed with jeans and a t-shirt!  I’m loving this pale pink shirt and how the leather sleeve adds a little edge to such a soft spring color.  Hope you’re all having a good week!

The big kids are home from school today due to weather so instead of lying around playing on iPads, iPods and iPhones, I decided to take some Valentine’s Day pictures. I made this cute kissing booth out of some left over wood scraps. Won’t it be cute as a lemonade stand too? Hope everyone’s having a good Valentine’s week!

It’s raining and cold here today so Tommy and I are staying in and I’ve been doing a little crafting. Valentine’s Day is almost here but it’s never too late to work on a few projects.  I made a pink glitter kiss on a gold and white canvas.  I love this one and will probably keep it in my office (if Elle doesn’t sneak it up to her room) after the 14th.

Here’s what I started with…

.Valentine's Lip Canvas on

Here are the “lips” I found on google and printed from my computer, just cut them out and use them to trace.  You can use any lip tempate you find, I liked the size of this one.

First I taped off my canvas with the tape shown (it’s not painters tape so it bled a bit but I’m okay with that, I kind of like the not so perfect lines look on this one.

Next I spray painted my canvas gold…

Once it’s dry, peel the tape and start tracing your lips.  Once they’re traced fill those lips with glue (I used Elmer’s Glue and it worked great).

Pour your glitter, dust it off and wa-la!  You’ve got your Valentine’s Day lips canvas.

Red Lips

I just bought my first tube of red lipstick!  I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to try it out.  I hardly own any red clothes and I’ve only have one pair of red heels.  I’m much more drawn to pinks and neutrals but yesterday I decided it was time to try new things.  So I marched myself to the MAC counter and bought the Viva Glam lipstick and lined it with Brick lipliner.  I’m still getting used to it and I’ll never give up my favorite YSL bright pink but I think it’ll be fun every now and then, especially with Valentine’s Day approaching.  Hope you’re all having a good week and staying warm.  Go get some red lipstick and it just might make your day a little brighter!

What I’m wearing… Anthropoligie Jacket (old but I’m also loving this and this), Ivory Blouse is older but this is similar, Gap skinnies, Steven by Steve Madden wedgesKate Spade handbag, JCrew necklace, Kate Spade earrings, and MAC on my lips.

Valentine Pie Cookies

Happy February!  It’s the month of love and over the weekend Elle and I decided to get into the spirit by making some delicious heart-shaped pie cookies.  I found some apple pie cookies on pinterest during the fall that my family loved and figured we should change them a bit and make them for Valentines.  We used a cherry filling (Billy’s request) and it turned out great!  I added step by step pictures of our baking process and our recipe.
step 1step 2step 3step 4step 5time to taste!

Cherry Pie Cookies…
1 Box of Pillsbury Pie Crust (2 sheets per box)
1 Can Cherry Pie Filling (or whatever flavor you choose)
1 Egg for egg-wash
Sugar for sprinkling
Heart shaped cookie cutter

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lay out both pie crust, cut heart shapes, add cherry pie filling in the center of your hearts (I added 3-4 cherries to each heart, works better if you cut the cherries up a bit), put the tops on and lightly press around the edges of the heart (it’s okay if a little pie filling seeps out, it’ll be ooey and gooey).  With a pastry brush, brush a little egg onto each pie cookie and then sprinkle a little sugar on top.  Put in the oven and bake for about 15 minutes (until the tops are golden).  Should make about 12 pie cookies depending on the heart shapes you use.  Enjoy!
